Real Wedding: Sarah & Ken

Sarah and Ken were a full coordination wedding, and so I was able to get to know them a bit better than some of my other couples. I still remember the first time a met Sarah and Ken, they had just gotten engaged and Sarah was GLOWING, her excitement was absolutely contagious! She had that same joy throughout their entire engagement and somehow managed MORE on the wedding day, every time I met with her I always left in such an incredible mood... contagious, seriously. She and Ken are the type of couple that just make everyone around them smile. They're absolutely amazing, and I couldn't be happier for them!

Sarah and Ken chose a beautiful and fun color scheme for their wedding using red, turquoise and touches of pink. SAS Florals did an absolutely incredible job with all of the flowers, Sarah's bouquet was especially gorgeous. Sarah was also lucky enough to be blessed with a very talented mom, who made her wedding cake. We realized last minute that we wanted to do something to bring more color and style to the ceremony space, so during the week prior to their wedding I made colorful rosettes in various sizes to go on the arbor, I also made the adorable name tags below. The evening wedding took place on the lovely lawn outside of The Tuscany, afterwards guests moved indoors for an amazing meal enjoying their choice of chicken, steak or pasta primavera. Afterwards guests went back outside to the patio for the reception. We had dancing (with a great DJ, Matt Carlson from MCDJ), a fun photobooth (from All Occasions Photobooth), and even more outrageously delicious food (hearthbreads, fruit, bruschetta, salmon, gelato and more). Their entire wedding day was captured perfectly, on film, by a great friend of the couple, Emily Chipping of Emily Renee Photography.

This was the first wedding of the season, and it was such a great way to kick things off! The couple was absolutely amazing, their personalities complimented each others perfectly. It was incredible to watch the kind and loving way that they communicated with one another and worked together toward their goals. I am confident that their marriage will be a strong and happy one!

The couple both wanted to have a style that was a bit french countryside. We used bright fun flowers, old antique jars, metal pails, and cream linens. The mid-morning ceremony took place in the beautiful garden outside Caffe Molise, and was followed by a delicious lunch inside the cafe. Later that evening the couple celebrated their marriage with a reception at the historic Wheeler Farm. Our groom had served a mission in France and absolutely fell in love with cheese, and so for their reception we served a variety of about twenty different cheeses (selected by the groom) with fresh fruits, Caprese and italian ice. The couple also had FIVE cakes, one large cake for the couple with three smaller versions for each of the brides children (she let them choose the flavors) with an entirely chocolate cake for the groom's cake.

I was totally inspired when I saw the city scape invitations by Kenzie Kate. I feel that sometimes when people think of "themes" for a wedding they don't realize the potential that there is!

A theme doesn't have to be an era, or a particular style, it can be ANYTHING. If you met your fiance at a Starbucks you can do a coffee theme with Tiramisu in place of cake, centerpieces with dark luxurious coffee beans filling the bottom of the vases, and satchels of coffee beans as favors. If your favorite weekend activity is camping you can choose a venue with a fire pit have guests making S'mores during your outdoor reception which can include miniature versions of all your favorite "camping" foods (hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.), with lanterns on each table and stars overhead. A theme does not have to be popular, it should be something that is meaningful to you as a couple, or something that you both love! A theme also doesn't have to be in-your-face obvious, small touches can give your wedding the unique and personalized feel that you want while ensuring that your wedding still looks timeless!

This weeks inspiration is Chloe! Chloe is 10 (That should be right, and if not I expect her to contact me within 30 seconds of posting to let me know). She is crafty, creative, fun, social, and unique. For her I chose pinks and purples because she is all girl; she has always loved pretty things, knowing everything about everyone, and making things. The cake was chosen mainly because it totally fits her crafty style, it is an idea from Martha Stewart Weddings that uses tissue paper for the decoration... something I can totally see Chloe doing. The strong colors show confidence and strength while the wedding gown is feminine and romantic and I felt that the combination of looks truly showcases Chloe's personality.

This is the second of four design boards that are inspired by my little sisters.

Alyse is only eight, so her wedding day is definitely a long way off, but she just loves weddings! She loves to look through wedding magazines and check all the great wedding blogs with me. Alyse is a tom-boy, but she also has a sensitive and romantic side and I really wanted to make the design all-girl to capture that part of her personality. She told me that she wanted her board to be elegant and romantic, and that she liked the colors blue and pink. The garden setting and chandeliers are lovely and romantic, while the classic simplicity of all the florals, dresses, and the cake radiate an understated elegance.

Once a week I post an inspiration board on my website. This is the inspiration for the week!

I spent the past week in Southern Utah visiting my family. While I was there I was trying to begin work on my new inspiration for this week, and I had no idea what I wanted to base it on, then I decided to just base it on what I was surrounded by: Sisters (I have seven!). So for the next few weeks my challenge for myself is to create an inspiration board for each of my four littlest sisters, I am so excited to see if I can capture the personality and style that I see in each of them.

This week is inspired by my thirteen year old sister Ryanne! Ryanne is so funny and unique. I can definitely see her doing something over the top that has never been seen before! She is totally a trend setter, I actually felt limited trying to use photos to try to capture her style, but I've done my best. She is bright, happy, silly, and absolutely random so I went with happy colors and a mix of patterns.
